Ayurveda in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka developed its own Ayurveda system, which has been handed down from generation to generation over a period of 3,000 years. Ayurvedic medicine is about holistic, effective therapy, but above all about maintaining health.

The result of your Ayurveda treatment

  • Your body experiences deep regeneration - you have much more energy and vitality
  • Tensions and blockages dissolve - feel how your body becomes more flexible and powerful
  • your mind can take a break - you sleep better, are more resistant to stress and open to new ideas
  • you enjoy fresh, healthy food - your body detoxifies and your immune system is strengthened

From an Ayurvedic point of view, the origin of an illness lies in an imbalance of the doshas

These are three fundamental life forces that include both physical and psychological components:

  • Vata - principle of movement
  • Pitta - principle of transformation and metabolism
  • Kapha - principle of stability and substance

Overloading the body and / or the psyche can disrupt the function of the doshas. In the long term, this can lead to illness. Ayurvedic medicine aims to restore the original balance of the three doshas, i.e. the individual constitution.

Your Ayurveda treatment at the Spirit of Life Resort - the best investment in yourself

Traditional and Sinhala - we offer you an Ayurveda treatment that has been a tradition in Sri Lanka for thousands of years. The treatment begins with a detailed examination by our Ayurveda doctor. The most important part is the pulse diagnosis, which indicates changes in your body and determines your constitutional type (Vatta, Pitta, Kapha). The doctor will identify past illnesses and acute complaints and discuss them with you.

After the consultation, a customized diet and treatment plan will be drawn up and suitable Ayurvedic medicine will be prepared for you. During the cure, you will have regular check-ups with the doctor to monitor the progress of your cure. If acute complaints arise, you can of course consult our doctor at any time.

A detailed final examination will take place on your last day. The pulse diagnosis makes it clear how the body has regained its balance and how profoundly the cure has worked. To continue to support your health, you will receive a personal nutrition plan and are also welcome to take Ayurvedic medicine home with you.

Healing of diseases and prevention of diseases

The symptoms and cause of the disease are treated with the help of Ayurvedic medicine and therapies. In Ayurveda, there are countless medicines made from herbs and organic products that are used to cure diseases. The treatment is particularly effective if the disease occurs at an early stage.

An important method in Ayurveda is an internal cleansing process, which involves removing toxins from the body and restoring the balance of the doshas. Cleansing can be used to cure illnesses and at the same time to maintain a healthy state of the body. Massage and treatments also help.

Your Ayurvedic daily routine

On the day of your arrival, depending on your arrival time, you can expect an initial medical consultation and a synchronised massage to kick off your treatment.

From the following day onwards, you will experience a balanced mix of Ayurvedic treatments, healthy nutrition and free time for relaxation:

•    7:30 a.m.: Start the day with a lovingly prepared Ayurvedic breakfast.
•    This is followed by your treatments: either in the morning or afternoon for around two hours.
These include:

o    Two shorter treatments of approx. 30 minutes each (e.g. foot massage, head massage, hand massage)
o    One longer treatment such as a synchronised massage

For longer stays (one week or more), after around five days you will experience a so-called cleaning day, which cleanses the body and prepares it for the subsequent, more in-depth Ayurvedic massages.

• 12:30 p.m.: Lunch together.
• In the evening from 7:00 p.m.: Dinner – accompanied by the opportunity to receive your individually tailored Ayurvedic medicines at the Herbal Bar before you eat.

The rest of the day is entirely yours: relax by the pool, enjoy the beach or simply unwind on the terrace.
Our doctor is available at any time should you have any questions or problems.
This means that your daily routine is clearly structured, but at the same time flexible enough for you to relax, unwind and consciously shape your days.
